Ubisoft’s loot shooter The Division 2 is now in Year 6 and continues to receive new content. Season 2 has just been released, allowing you to hunt a new target.
What kind of season is this?
- On October 29, 2024, Season 2 of Year 6, titled “Rottöne” (eng.: Shades of Red), started in The Division 2.
- Season 2 is free to play for all players of The Division 2.
- The main goal of Season 2 is to locate and secure the hacker Theo Parness.
- New content in the season includes seasonal modifiers, a new season pass, and bonus XP events.
What is the season about? The main villain of the loot shooter, Aaron Keener, has surrendered and is now in custody at the White House. However, for Keener to share his knowledge with the agents, they must locate and secure his team.
First, you need to search for the hacker Theo Parness. However, he does not trust the agents and therefore presents various challenges for you.

What does the new season bring? Ubisoft has changed how seasonal content is structured with this season. The season now consists of a series of missions that players must complete, all containing a challenging objective.
Additionally, there are now seasonal modifiers that are intended to give each season unique gameplay. There are four types of modifiers: Global, Active, Passive, and Hostile. The global seasonal modifier for Season 2 is called “Straight Ahead” and gives you a damage bonus depending on how far you are from your enemies.
Moreover, players can take on “a scout” each week to advance the story. Each scout consists of 3 activities. To unlock the individual activities, a puzzle must be solved. Those who complete all scouts and eliminate the main target of the season can achieve a new difficulty level.
This new difficulty level is supposed to present an even greater challenge for you and may reward success with special rewards. These rewards include a unique, exotic item.
What does the community say about the season? So soon after the season launch, there is still no clear opinion from the community regarding the latest update. On YouTube, players are surprised in the comments under the trailer that the loot shooter is indeed still getting new content.
Creeper_ofDoom writes: “[I am] amazed that they are still supporting the game.” One user asks: “Oh wow, Division 2 is still running?” After a long period where it seemed that Ubisoft was not working on new content for the loot shooter, many players are visibly surprised now.
However, there are also players who are not satisfied with the new content. One commentator wishes for a new raid or a dungeon.
