In mid-December, the developers of Ashes of Creation briefly tested their PvP offshoot Apocalypse. Now, Game Director Steven Sharif shared insights into the game’s future plans. He also announced that the fortress mode will be delayed.
What happened? On December 26, the developers took the servers of Apocalypse offline again, surprising the players. There was only a brief note on Reddit about the servers being taken offline until January.
Many players complained because the PvP offshoot already contained several questionable contents. There was already a cash shop with a Battle Pass and other contents, which the community did not like.
When can I play Apocalypse again? The next beta phase is expected to start on January 11, 2019. From then on, Apocalypse should be playable every weekend. This was communicated to the players in a Discord post by Steve Sharif.
The exact times will be published in the week before the test weekend.
Release of Ashes of Creation Apocalypse – When?
The release of Ashes of Creation Apocalypse is planned for February 2019. The previous beta phases should ensure that the game reaches a standard expected by Intrepid Studios.
However, there is still no exact release date.
The fortress mode is also delayed
In the Discord post, Sharif also discusses the upcoming fortress mode. This will be an important part of Apocalypse, as conquests of nodes are planned for the later MMORPG. The mode is a kind of test run for the content in the later game.
Testing for the fortress mode postponed: However, due to the work on matchmaking and the servers of Apocalypse, testing for the fortress mode is delayed. These will only begin when the contents are also presentable.
Sharif expects that the alpha and beta backers will be able to test the mode by the end of January. He himself is dissatisfied that the tests are being postponed.
When will we learn more about the fortress mode? However, new information about the fortress mode will be available before the test ends in January. A developer livestream will take place on January 12 at 12:00 AM our time.
