On December 11, 2025, the Early Access of Ashes of Creation begins on Steam. With a new trailer, the developers present the MMORPG once again. At the same time, they emphasize how unfinished the game still is.
What does the new trailer reveal? In almost five and a half minutes, Margaret Krohn (Director of Communications at Intrepid Studios) presents the MMORPG Ashes of Creation, which goes into Early Access on Steam on December 11. From character creation to battles against impressive dragon world bosses.
Margaret Krohn discusses the two available starting zones of the game. She introduces the available archetypes and emphasizes the importance of crafting and trading. She warns of unexpected PvP encounters, recommends visiting the dungeons, and raves about the settlement system, through which you can noticeably advance the development of a region with your actions.
When a small village becomes a town and then a metropolis, you unlock new content, merchants, and quests. Players can be elected as mayor and set the politics and laws of the region. Conflicts between guilds constantly arise over regions, settlements, or castles. You can check out the new trailer below:
Attention, Alpha!
What are the developers warning about? Ashes of Creation is currently in what is likely the final phase of alpha, and the Harbinger Update will not change that, which will land on the servers with the Steam release. The beta is not scheduled until sometime in 2026.
Margaret Krohn therefore emphasizes in the video: “Ashes of Creation is an MMO that is still in development.” The Early Access is meant to test new content and improve already implemented systems further. So, you can expect bugs and unfinished features. Bug reports and feedback are essential for Ashes of Creation to become the game everyone hopes for in the end.
This is also something that many alpha testers are currently emphasizing on community platforms like Reddit: For 42 to 50 US dollars (there should be a small discount at launch), you will gain access to an unfinished alpha on Steam. This is considerably less than many alpha testers had to pay for early access before, but it’s still a lot for an unfinished game.
