In 2006, the first Titan Quest was released and has received several expansions. Now the successor, Titan Quest 2, is playable in Early Access on Steam. Already after the first weekend, the game has strong ratings and is one of the best-selling games on Steam.
What kind of game is this?
- In the world of Greek gods, trouble arises: Nemesis, the goddess of revenge, destroys the work of the Fates and corrupts the fate of many people who oppose the goddess.
- You play as one of these adversaries of Nemesis in Titan Quest 2 and battle not only against eagles and wild boars during your journey, but also against creatures from Greek mythology.
- The predecessor, Titan Quest, is already one of the best alternatives to Diablo. With Titan Quest 2, a full-fledged sequel finally comes after 19 years.
Titan Quest 2 is received very well: Since August 1, Titan Quest 2 has been in Early Access on Steam and has been delighting players there. Although the action RPG currently contains only about 10 hours of gameplay, it has managed to retain nearly 27,000 players at its peak (according to steamcharts).
The ratings are “very positive” with 83% from over 4,900 reviews. What might be even more noteworthy: According to Steam, Titan Quest 2 is currently the second best-selling game in Germany (as of August 4).
Only the perennial favorite Counter-Strike 2 is more successful. The new game from the Munich studio Grimlore Games is thus selling better here than Battlefield 6, which was able to storm the charts in pre-sale.
Currently, Titan Quest 2 costs only 24 euros. The offer runs until August 8. Afterwards, you will still pay no full price: Normally, the game costs 30 euros in Early Access. The price will rise for the final release.
The 1.0 release is scheduled for late 2026, but there is no specific date yet. There should be major updates approximately every 3 months. A version for PS5 and Xbox is also in the works.
“Great foundation, but still has a long way to go”
On Reddit, a user is excited about the success of Titan Quest 2 already in Early Access – even if the comments state that action RPGs are not exactly a niche genre, as claimed by the creator. Diablo alone is so big that the genre certainly belongs to the major titles.
Many players praise the current state of the game. While there is still not much content, what is available feels excellent. The pacing is slower than in the first part (and also slower than Diablo or PoE), but feels good. Titan Quest 2 looks pretty and especially the price makes it very accessible, they say.
Special praise is also given to the class and skill system. Unlike in other action RPGs, you do not select your class during character creation. Instead, you build it from various mastery options yourself.

Currently, Titan Quest 2 only offers a single-player mode, but it will include multiplayer. While the game does not have an open world like Diablo 4, the community is likely to become quite active.
