The survival MMO ARK Survival Evolved seems to be struggling with the upcoming release. A new patch v262 for PC is in the works, which will also be released as ARK Update 1.28 for PS4 and Xbox One. Update July 16th: The ARK patch that was released on July 14th for PC is also coming today, July 16th, on a Sunday, for Xbox One. The certification with Microsoft is complete, they have done ARK a favor, which makes the spontaneous patch possible on Sunday afternoon. Here are the PC patch notes, which also apply to Xbox One. There are mainly balance changes and bug fixes.
Another patch for Xbox One is scheduled to be released on July 19th, Wednesday. This patch is supposed to bring the DLC Ragnarok.

To put it mildly: Those familiar with the established and solid patch processes of other software studios will be surprised by how things operate at Studio WildCard and their game ARK Survival Evolved.
The indie studio has hit a mega success with ARK. However, the company culture seems to be significantly more relaxed than at established studios. This results in the patch processes sometimes being a bit chaotic.
Communication happens via Twitter. Often, chief developer Jeremy Stieglitz reports progress at 2:00 AM before going to bed. He then retracts those updates the next day. He had forgotten that nobody works at Sony or Microsoft on weekends.
ARK is struggling with the upcoming release, worked on the final version last week
We have already reported on the difficulties that ARK faces every time a patch is supposed to come to PS4 and Xbox One. Because Sony and Microsoft have to certify the patches beforehand. This takes time, and ARK seems to have a hard time with this.
The situation is likely exacerbated by the fact that time was needed to finalize the “release version” of ARK Survival Evolved. It is supposed to launch in August. Community manager Jat tweeted last week that they are currently working on it intensively to get the version finished.
Currently, another patch is on the program, the ARK patch v262 for PC. The problem is, they still don’t know exactly what’s included. It’s only mentioned as “a series of bug fixes.”

No matter what the patch v262 brings to PC players: The patch should then “in principle” also be released for PS4 and Xbox One this week. Then probably as patch 1.28.

Update July 14th: The patch notes are now available. They mainly include bug fixes and balance changes – especially for the bosses, some adjustments are being made.
