ARK Survival Evolved now has new beginner servers for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. These are meant to provide an easier entry into the survival MMO and keep high-level players away.
Players can only start new characters on the new beginner servers and download them later to other servers. Beginner servers fundamentally prohibit downloads, which is why characters from other servers cannot enter them.
If you want to play on one of these servers, enter “Beginner” in the search.
What advantage do beginners have on beginner servers?
In ARK Survival Evolved, there is a level system and tribes that consist of player groups. Players who have just started can be easily wiped out by high-level tribes.
This often leads to a frustrating and nearly impossible start. On the beginner servers, players are only interacting with fellow beginners. High-level players and tribes do not exist here. Once someone leaves the beginner server, they cannot return.
Beginner servers allow only limited progress
If you start ARK on beginner servers, you will only be able to progress up to a certain point. There are fixed progress limits for players and (tamed) dinos on these servers.
These limitations exist on beginner servers:
- Players can reach a maximum level of 44. The cap is actually at 130.
- Wild dinos have a maximum level of 30, while tamed dinos can reach an additional 30 levels.
- There are no alliances.
- Tribes can have a maximum of 5 members.
Due to the level limitation, some engrams cannot be unlocked as well. Engrams provide survivors with permanent crafting recipes, allowing them to create weapons or equipment, for example.
