Engrams are permanent crafting recipes in Ark Survival Evolved that players learn. Engrams are unlocked by occupying them with engram points. Engram points are awarded to the survivor when leveling up.

Amnesia Soup: The Potion of Forgetting – What is its function?
The Amnesia Soup is also called the “Potion of Forgetting.” It is capable of resetting your skill and engram points. Depending on your level, you can redistribute your engram points.
In addition to the engram points, the statistics of the survivor are reset: health, movement, speed, weight, etc. The potion resets your character back to level 1. As you will not lose any experience points, you level back up directly to your original level. So the level you had before consuming the soup.
Recipe “Potion of Forgetting” – Ingredients for making the Amnesia Soup
To create the “Potion of Forgetting,” you need a cooking pot. Additionally, add a Water-Skin, Water-Jar, or Canteen that contains 25% water.

- 72 x Narcotic
- 72 x Stimulant
- 20 x Rare Flower
- 20 x Rare Mushroom
- 200 x Mejoberries
- 24 x Cooked Prime Meat
- 1 x Water-Skin
Does the “Potion of Forgetting” reset engram points for my dinos?
No. The Amnesia Soup is not able to reset the engram points of dinos. You cannot force-feed the potion to your dinos. The Potion of Forgetting only works for survivors.
When does the “Potion of Forgetting” spoil?
Like all food in Ark Survival Evolved, the Potion of Forgetting will spoil after a while. This is how long the Amnesia Soup stays fresh:
- In player inventory: 5 hours
- In the inventory of a tamed dino: 20 hours
- Preserving-Bin: 2 days
- Refrigerator: 20 days
With the Potion of Forgetting, you can distribute your engram points without worries. Just make the Amnesia Soup once and enjoy.
