ARK Survival Evolved has received the “okay” from Sony for a release on the PS4.
While PC and Xbox One are already celebrating, work is still heavily underway on the PS4 version …
ARK: Survival Evolved is a hit in Early Access – first on PC, later also on Xbox One. The dino survival MMO came out of nowhere, leveraging the hype around “Jurassic World” in the summer of 2015 and quickly took over Steam – without a major announcement or campaign. The game is now primarily praised for the team behind Studio Wildcard maintaining an open development, working closely with the community, and continuously evolving Ark. PC gamers and players on Xbox One are equipped with “early access versions”.
However, players on PS4 are currently left out: Sony does not allow “early access” versions. A launch for the PS4 would only be possible once ARK goes “into release”. This is not necessary for PC and Xbox One, where you can essentially remain in early access (PC) or in a so-called “preview version” (Xbox One) indefinitely.
ARK: Survival Evolved – Is the PS4 release coming soon?
But soon the “real release” for the PS4 could be imminent. The team behind the PS4 port of ARK has now confirmed that the certification process went smoothly. The studio “Abstraction Games” is responsible for the port. They happily tweeted that they have managed the PS4 builds.
A reader then asked: “Does that mean you passed certification?” – Yes, exactly, that is what it means. Such a certification is necessary to appear on the PS4.
@jayex23 @jatstweeter @arkjeremy You got it! 🙂

There is still no release date for ARK: Survival Evolved for the PS4 – that is not in the hands of Abstraction Games, they say.
A release in December is rather unusual for larger titles, but also not impossible.
It was originally planned that ARK in the “Free2Play” version Survival of the Fittest would come to PS4 in July, why that did not happen:
