In ARK Survival Evolved, beards and hair were added with the latest patch. Here’s everything important about it.
The Creative Director of Studio Wildcard, Jesse Rapczack, revealed everything important about beards and hair in ARK Survival Evolved in an interview:
- After death or restarting, players start completely hairless.
- It takes 5 hours for hair to fully grow. Beard growth takes 8 hours.
- When hair is cut, the resource “Human Hair” is obtained. It can be used as a substitute for Pelts.
- Beard and hair growth only occur when the player is online. Nothing happens offline.
- When switching servers, hair and beard growth are retained.

On PC, hair and beard growth have been live since January 30. If everything goes smoothly, the patch will be available on February 14 for PS4 and Xbox One. Then players can also show off their hairdressing skills there.
