ARK: Survival Evolved delays the TEK tier update and thus the release for version 1.0 until summer 2017. Kayd Hendricks from Studio Wildcard revealed more about it in an interview.
Kayd Hendricks is the Senior Gameplay and Technical Designer at Studio Wildcard. He has now announced in an interview that the TEK update for ARK: Survival Evolved will be delayed. The TEK tier update is set to introduce not only laser cannons for dinosaurs, but many other futuristic items for the crafting system and an underwater base.
Originally, Wildcard planned to release the TEK tier update in January 2017, but at that time it would have been “too good to be true” according to Hendricks. It now seems that ARK players will have to wait until summer next year to be able to use plasma rifles, energy weapons, and jetpacks, among other things.

Ark Survival Evolved: PC will likely be ahead of PS4 and Xbox One with patches
Hendricks further commented in the interview about the difficulties of keeping all versions on the same level across all devices. Wildcard has now found that due to certification issues, processing times, and quality assurance, it is nearly impossible to keep the Xbox One version on the same level as the PC version. Currently, the ARK studio aims to release version 1.0 first on PC and there will be major patches coming for this at larger intervals.
However, it is already planned that all major content releases will be conducted simultaneously across platforms, while smaller patches and fixes will initially be released and tested on PC. It is likely that all major content releases can be executed simultaneously across platforms. Smaller patches and fixes will be tested first on PC and will appear on consoles along with the next major updates.

“We will buckle down and just finish the game.”
Until the launch of ARK: Survival Evolved, the studio will likely face a stressful period:
“We will buckle down and just finish the game. Really! We have a lot to do before the planned release, both creatively and logistically. It should be interesting to see how things develop, as we are aiming for summer 2017 as the release date.”
So it will take a while before we can equip our dinosaurs with laser weapons. Hopefully the ARK Park won’t take too long to arrive.
