The dinosaur MMO ARK: Survival Evolved is currently having an update installed for the PS4. It is Patch 1.27 and weighs a little over 11 GB.
As ARK tweets, an update for the PS4 is currently happening. This should be Update 1.27 (version numbers are always a bit tricky with ARK).
The patch is quite large, with a download size of 11.422 GB.
With such a size, one might think that there is a lot of new content in it, maybe the DLC Ragnarok, which PS4 players have been waiting for a long time. But that is not the case.
ARK: Survival Evolved is getting ready for release with patches
The update does not bring any major “wow” changes but is slowly preparing the PS4 version for the release of ARK: Survival Evolved. This means fixing bugs, adjusting the balancing, and hopefully improving performance.
The PS4 update essentially includes the current PC patch v.264 – mostly bug fixes and balance changes. Additionally, 1.27 brings some PS4-specific improvements. It pertains to how to call Admin Commands or how to get to the map “The Center”.

Lots of stress before the release
Mein-MMO says: Everything is a bit chaotic at ARK right now, if you follow it. Hence the unusual patch times.
They are waiting for Sony or Microsoft to certify their respective patches and are trying to bring them live as quickly as possible. The studio behind ARK is relatively small, and the box release seems to have shaken up a lot of things and challenged their capacities.
It was even said that a dupe bug, which has affected the current servers of ARK, was only possible because they were so focused on the release that they became negligent on another front.
Not included in the patch is the free ARK DLC Ragnarok. Console players have been waiting for that for quite some time. But it is set to be released at the final launch on August 8.
