The virtual ARK Park is coming for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR. You can find first info and a teaser trailer for this VR dino spectacle here.
WildCard and Snail Games have teamed up to offer the ultimate dino VR experience. They are building a kind of virtual Jurassic Park, which will be accessible via PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift.
So far, the plans for the ARK Park look like this
In the ARK Park, you can embark on a discovery tour to take a close look at the long-extinct creatures. You will also be able to interact with the dinos and examine them more closely. You can experience your virtual prehistoric adventure on foot, in vehicles, or sometimes even on the back of a dino. The VR ARK Park will be accessible solo or together with friends and family in multiplayer.

Not just watching dinos, but also collecting their genes
There will be even more interaction in the game than just interacting directly with the dinos. The ARK Park is planned as a collection game. So-called “Gen cubes” will be scattered throughout the park, which you can collect and bring to a library. According to Snail Games, visitors will need a combination of puzzle logic, action skills, a sense of exploration, and careful resource management to gather the most valuable animals.
Once you have managed to gather the Gen cubes, you can upload them to the “Hub World” of the ARK Park. There, you can go to learn more about the dinos.
Off to the petting zoo with the dinos
But there’s more: once you have uploaded the data, you can load the fully tamed dinos into a virtual petting zoo! Here you can pet and feed the dinos, without the worry that they will eat you. Additionally, you should be able to customize the dinos in the petting zoo, such as changing their color.
And as if the petting zoo wasn’t enough, you can even go on tour with the “selfie stick” item to take pictures with the dinos. Because even in the prehistoric ARK Park, one keeps up with the times.

Leya says: As a child, I was a huge fan of dinos and would have loved the idea of the ARK Park. Luckily, as an adult woman, I still like dinos and find the idea of feeding them and riding them fantastic. However, I fear that Snail Games and WildCard might be taking on too much with this project and wonder if they can implement all these plans with high quality. The graphics still have their issues even in ARK: Survival Evolved …
But I don’t want to raise my critical voice too early and hope that they can realize the ARK Park according to their vision. Then I would immediately become the dino Sherlock, looking for the Gen cubes and collecting them for the petting zoo.
What do you think about the plans for the ARK Park? Will this VR game be feasible in this form? For PS4 players: The $2,000 ARK “Trophy Hunting” event is still ongoing.
