A backup led to a complete collapse of PS4 servers 225 – 228 in Ark Survival Evolved. All data from the servers were lost.
It seems there is something wrong at Studio Wildcard. Just recently, some players of Ark Survival Evolved suffered severe losses. Due to a failure of Amazon Web Services, the studio was forced to perform a rollback of its official servers. This cost survivors valuable time, dinos, and items.
Shortly after, the second digital blow came for the survival MMO. This time, the official PS4 servers 225 – 228 were affected and lost all their data. At the beginning of the week, the servers were undergoing a backup process. During the process, there was a critical hardware failure, preventing the developers from accessing the corresponding box for a while.

Errors with a 0.00001% Chance Destroy Official PS4 Servers
Studio Wildcard spoke with the server hosts and identified the problem. The hardware failure occurred during the writing of the backups. This shattered both the data of the main server and the data that was currently being written for the backup.
This means that the data is irretrievably lost. According to the developers, the chance of such an occurrence is a “one-in-a-million” chance. Wildcard now wants to analyze the situation further and think about ways to prevent this problem in the future.
Wildcard Apologizes to Players
Wildcard apologizes to the affected players. The box remains offline for the time being. It will only be put back into use once it has been set up with completely new hardware and is ready to be part of the “Official-Ark-Networks.” This could take a while. When the box goes online again, it will have a complete restart with empty slots.

It seems Wildcard is haunted by digital misfortune. Let’s hope that this nightmare comes to an end and the survivors no longer have to suffer losses.
