In ARC Raiders, you need various resources to upgrade the levels of the stations in your workshop. How to obtain rusty gears, which you need for the weapon station, can be found here.
What are rusty gears needed for? To upgrade your weapon station to level 3, you need to collect 3 rusty gears, among other materials. This material belongs to the rarity level blue and does not drop as frequently as many basic resources. Once you upgrade the station, you can craft better weapons, such as the epic assault rifle “Bettina.”
The following materials are needed for the weapon station at level 3:
- 5 advanced mechanical components (can be crafted at the refiner)
- 4 Guardian fire cores (loot from the large Guardian turrets on building walls)
- 3 rusty gears

Where can you find rusty gears the best? According to the item description, you can find rusty gears in areas with the “Industry” feature. On the map “Dam Battlefields,” there are several spots for them. Additionally, you can even collect light bulbs for your project while you’re in the power generator complex or the transformer station.
But the “Buried City” with its many cars and generators is also a good place for this. It’s best to run a route from the warehouse in the west, through the Marano train station to the parking garage in the New District, depending on which side you spawn on. Smash cars on the way and keep an eye out for containers and generators that you can loot.
Attention: Often, a Bastion patrols around the parking garage. This is an armored ARC that looks somewhat like a giant spider with a fortress on top. You can recognize from a distance that it’s patrolling an area when you see two Scout ARCs in the air. If you don’t want to engage it, keep your distance.
