Apex Legends has announced new trailers for Season 2 for this evening. However, they have already been leaked in advance. Season 2 is apparently called “Battle Charge” and it seems we can expect several profound changes that have already been hinted at.
Update: Respawn published a new tweet at 5:55 PM. In this tweet, the first part of the leak is shown as a video, which has already been uploaded. At least this has been confirmed.
Original report – What is seen in the trailers? The trailers briefly show the course of a round in Apex Legends, before a catastrophe breaks out and King’s Canyon is devastated. Octane competes with his team against a group of opponents, and the new legend Wattson is clearly visible, along with her abilities.
During the action, an unknown person is repeatedly seen at a laptop. They attack the island with an EMP, causing the large tower at Repulsor to fall and burying part of the surroundings beneath it.
This apparently has several effects that lead to changes in the map and also attract the wild animals of the land.
How reliable are the leaks? The trailers are quite elaborately designed and do not appear to be fake. Additionally, a scene that is already known from a teaser on Twitter appears exactly as it does in the trailers. So it is likely that these are the correct trailers.
What changes in Apex Legends with Season 2
How the map changes: The map apparently changes drastically with Season 2. Apex Legends seems to be taking a page out of Fortnite’s book, where the map also frequently changes due to specific events. This includes several structural changes such as:
- the toppled Repulsor tower
- several new buildings across the map
- the burned forest has blossomed again
- there are cages with trapped Pterosaurs, which have been in the game for some time
Additionally, the giant creatures from outside the map are now trampling across the island and are reportedly becoming a real threat. At least they will soon be a part of the map.
How exactly the map will be remodeled is not yet clear in detail, as only short segments of gameplay with the new features are visible.
What comes with it: However, there are also some new features that will be introduced with Season 2. Additionally, some new features were already known in advance. These include cosmetic changes as well as new legends:
- Wattson is seen with abilities like reviving and electric fences
- the Spitfire and R-301 receive legendary skins
- Caustic and Octane receive new skins
- the new weapon L-STAR will be introduced
- emotes for landing will be added
- ranked matches will be added
Will there be a new legend? In the trailers, a mysterious person is seen operating a laptop, corresponding to the hints hidden on the map. Fans speculate that this is the legend Crypto.
When does Season 2 start? The start date for Season 2 has already been set for July 2, 2019.
