In Apex Legends, the developers have now had some fun with the players of the heroine “Wraith”. Players of the “interdimensional trickster” are regarded as such sweaty players that the developers have made fun of this behavior in the new animation.
What reputation do Wraith players enjoy? In the Apex Legends community, players of the heroine “Wraith” are known as “sweaties” or tryhards:
They play very seriously, always give their best, and absolutely want to win
As the site Dotesports knows, the “sweaty” Wraith players love to run around with their cosmetic “heirloom item” and spam the item’s animation: Wraith pulls out her weapon, the Japanese, wedge-shaped Kunai blade, and spins it around while playing with it.
Developers secretly change the animation of the heirloom
What is the Easter egg now? With the new patch, Revelry, the developers have updated the heirloom animation.
There are still the animations from before, but additionally, there are other rare animations.
In a random occurrence, Wraith pulls out a handkerchief and wipes her forehead with it.
Then she squeezes the handkerchief, and you can see that it was soaking wet from all the sweat.
At about 39 seconds, you can see the rare animation:
What is it with the sweat? In gamer language, “sweating” means something like: “putting in a lot of effort”, “playing hard and seriously”, “not understanding fun”. Players who play like this are also called “sweaties.”
This is often derogatorily used by other players in the sense of: “The opponents take it terribly seriously and sweat while playing, while we just want to play relaxed, they are really working hard.”
It’s probably not meant too seriously when it’s said that “Wraith players are all sweaties” – in 2019 there was a similar phenomenon with Fortnite. They said: Anyone wearing a certain skin is a terrible sweaty.
What do the players think? Players in Apex Legends are having fun with the animation on reddit:
- “This shit is soaked – 10/10 for the animation, but damn, that’s mean”
- “A little jab at all the sweaty Wraith players”
- “Damn, that wasn’t even in the patch notes. They know how to surprise their audience.”
