Some ultimate abilities in Apex Legends are better than others. However, the one from a certain legend is particularly poorly regarded by many fans, although it has great potential. The suggestions for improvement have been well received.
This is the Ulti in question: Players are saying that Mirage’s ultimate ability is too weak. Each legend has their own tactical and ultimate abilities, and Mirage’s is to create clones.
Here’s why the Ulti is so bad: Right now, Mirage generates six clones with his ultimate ability that then stand in a circle around his position.
He himself becomes somewhat invisible and faster for a few seconds. However, his position can still be recognized by a translucent outline. During the duration of his invisibility, Mirage cannot fire weapons and can only run.
Instead of causing confusion, the clones make it clear that Mirage has used his ability. They can look for a logical escape route and easily take him out. A video on reddit illustrates the problem.
How the Ultimate should be improved: On reddit, many fans have been making suggestions for how Mirage should be made stronger for some time now. The three most popular are:
- the clones should run instead of standing around aimlessly. This creates the confusion they are supposed to cause.
- the clones should run away and also shoot blindly. If they reach a defeated opponent, they should initiate a finishing move that stops just before the end.
- Mirage not only creates clones of himself that run away but also of all team members within a radius. Fewer clones are created per legend the more players are in the circle.
Especially the last suggestion has received over 26,000 upvotes on reddit in the past weeks. Regardless of further features, all fans agree that the clones should move.
Here’s Respawn’s stance: There are no concrete plans for improving Mirage. However, the developers stated early on that any balance adjustments are thoroughly tested before being implemented in the game. They can have too great an impact.
They have therefore first taken care to strengthen some particularly weak legends in the Battle Pass patch. The hitboxes of some legends were not good and caused problems, which is why these were prioritized first.
