In Apex Legends a ranking list was recently introduced. But it’s hardly enjoyable for anyone at the top ranks. The reason is cheaters. However, there are already ideas on what could be done about it.
What is the problem with the cheaters? Those who are climbing to the higher ranks in the newly introduced Season 2 rankings of Apex Legends are likely to soon experience quite a surprise. Because around the Platinum League, you will regularly get shot down with great precision.
So are there only full professionals like Shroud, the human aimbot, around? Not at all, rather it is often cheaters who actually use cheats like aimbots and wallhacks.
The cheaters are that brutal: An impressive video to the epic orchestral piece Dies Irae (appropriately Days of Wrath) shows a fitting summary of how cheeky the cheaters are. The videos show streamers who, after their death, continue to watch their killers and can hardly believe their eyes.
This is how the alleged cheaters shoot accurately even at enormous distances, precisely follow their opponents with the crosshairs, even when they are behind walls, and almost constantly hit the head.
Fan has ideas against the cheaters
According to many players, the upper ranking list is virtually unplayable. It just isn’t fun when cheaters farm all fair-playing teammates. Even top players like Shroud are said to have already fallen victim to cheaters, according to the site DoteSports.
Here’s how the problem could be solved: But a player and Reddit user named Pjeh has listed a few plausible ideas on how to solve the cheater problem. Among other things, he suggests:
- Phone Authentication: If you have to identify yourself via an app on a mobile device before playing in the upper ranks, it should at least restrict the cheaters who use multiple accounts.
- Maximum Level for Ranked Mode: Currently, you only need to be level 10 in the game to participate. If this were raised to level 100, cheaters who have been banned once would have to grind for much longer with a new account to rejoin ranked.
- Partnership with an Anti-Cheat Company: Pjeh suggests that the developers should collaborate with the company Facelt. They have experience in combating cheaters.
- Hiring an Anti-Cheat Team: Additionally, a team of 5 to 10 people should constantly monitor ranked play and ban anyone they identify as a cheater.
This is what the players think: Pjeh’s ideas are largely well-received by the fans. Only the argument for level 100 for ranked play is not popular with everyone. Cheaters would also quickly grind to this level, and many non-cheaters who would like to participate would be barred.
A compromise could be to introduce level 100 as a requirement only from the Gold League onwards.
However, so far the players’ ideas have only been wishes, as the developers have not commented on them specifically. But hopefully, something will happen soon, as according to many players, the upper league is currently unplayable.
