Anthem is getting a new update today. Patch 1.1.1 brings several bug fixes but also removes a feature that was recently added to the game.
New patch is coming: As Community Manager Jesse Anderson announced, BioWare will deploy a new patch for Anthem today, on May 7th. Update 1.1.1 will bring some bug fixes but will not include new content. Instead, the Elysian Chests are being removed, which were only added to the game with one of the recent updates.
The patch will be available for download around 5:00 PM German time. No downtime is expected. However, players will need to download the new update before they can continue playing.
The update is approximately 1.7 GB in size and has version number 1.11 on PlayStation 4.
This is what the new patch brings: The patch notes for the new update are quite concise but do bring some improvements. A few particularly annoying display bugs are now being addressed.
These are the patch notes for Update 1.1.1/1.11:
- A bug is fixed that caused weapon and component values to not display correctly.
- A bug is fixed that caused the power level of your Javelin (rarity) to not be calculated correctly based on equipped items.
- An audio issue in the Spanish and French versions of the new stronghold “The Sunken Cell” is being fixed.
- A problem is fixed that caused a slight delay in the deconstruction of items at the end of an expedition.
- Partially defeated creatures will no longer drop loot from previously defeated enemies.
- [PC Only] The deconstruction of items at the end of an expedition now requires holding down the corresponding mouse button.
This is why cosmetic chests are being removed: Along with the patch notes, BioWare announced that the Elysian Chests, which were only added to Anthem with Patch 1.04/1.06, will be removed with the upcoming update. Players who still have Elysian Keys should use them before the update.
As the Community Manager stated in the Anthem subreddit, it was planned from the beginning that the Elysian Chests are a temporary feature. The cosmetic chests may return to the game at a later time.
This is what players are saying: Some players are disappointed that BioWare is once again not addressing the loot with the patch. Some freelancers are bothered that the developers even fixed an exploit that allowed players to get more loot.
However, the removal of the Elysian Chests is particularly poorly received. Although there was a countdown in the game that was displayed with the contents of the cosmetic chests, many players assumed that after the timer ended, the contents of the chests would change and not that they would disappear entirely.
