The impressive trailer of BioWare’s new semi-MMO Anthem on the PS4 wasn’t really PS4 gameplay. They apparently used Xbox One X gameplay and trimmed it with Photoshop for PS4. The deception has now been exposed.
The official YouTube channel of PlayStation has uploaded “In-Engine” gameplay footage of Anthem that was created on the Xbox One X.
It is the trailer that was previously shown at E3.
Apparently, someone poorly attempted to use Photoshop to insert PS4 buttons and overlay them on top of the Xbox One commands seen in the trailer.
Fans have uncovered this deception, and Eurogamer is now reporting on it. The eagle-eyed fans miss nothing. Particularly revealing is this screenshot that shows the Photoshop – in the background, the “original buttons” are still visible.
It is therefore clear that the PS4 trailer does not show how Anthem will actually look on the PS4 – even though the trailer suggests this.
Anthem was unveiled at E3 – however, there was only a short trailer shown during the Electronic Arts press conference. The actual gameplay reveal took place at Microsoft, during the presentation of their new Xbox One X console.
For a while, it was even suspected that Anthem could only be released for the Xbox One X because Microsoft made such a fuss about the new BioWare game. However, this is not the case: Anthem is also set to release for PC and PlayStation 4, but apparently has no dedicated trailer for the PS4, which is why Sony had to find other ways to compensate. A lack of planning.
One can imagine that this realization is currently causing a lot of mockery. Fans of the Xbox One, on the other hand, are having an excellent day.
