With EA Access or Origin Access, you can play Anthem before its release on PC and Xbox. In this guide, we will show you how to do this.
What is it about? The release of Anthem is on February 22, 2019. There is the possibility to play Anthem earlier through EA Access on Xbox One or Origin Access on PC. Unfortunately, this is not yet possible for PS4.

Can I play Anthem earlier with PS4? Unfortunately, it is not possible for PS4 players to participate in the Early Access of Anthem. The possible reasons for this can be read in this post: Even the head of Anthem criticizes the launch plan that disadvantages PS4.

What is Origin Access Premier PC? This is a subscription offered by EA for PC players. As a subscriber, you get access to the full version of Anthem a week early. You also gain access to a growing game collection, as well as a 10% discount on Origin purchases. The subscription costs €14.99 per month or €99.99 for a yearly subscription.
What is Origin Access Basic? This is the cheaper version of Origin Access. It costs €3.99 monthly and €24.99 annually. Here, too, you have access to 125 games.
What is EA Access? On Xbox One, you can subscribe to the EA Access subscription. It costs €3.99 per month or €24.99 per year.
From what time can you play? On Reddit , user blakeomafer shared a graphic with the launch times for Anthem. This is based on the assumption that the given launch times in Origin are displayed correctly. According to this data, the start times for Pre-Load, Early Access, and World Launch in Germany are:
- Preload on PS4 and PC: February 13 at 19:00
- The preload on Xbox One has already started
- Early Access on PC and Xbox One: February 15 at 16:00
- This concerns the 10-hour version and also Origin Access Premier
- Originally, Origin showed a start time on February 14 at 23:30, but that changed.
- Global launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One: February 22 at 06:00
The differences between the Origin versions
The most significant difference you have as an Origin Access Premier member. You can dive into your Javelin with the full version of Anthem on February 15, a whole week before the release.
Play a week earlier for €15: If you want, you pay €15 for Origin Access Premier on PC and secure Anthem in its full version a week earlier.
The other two subscriptions are cheaper but also have fewer strong advantages.
What does the 10-hour limitation mean? If you are “only” a member of Origin Access (basic) on PC or EA Access on Xbox One, you can also start playing on February 15. However, the gaming experience is limited to only 10 hours. After that, it ends, and you have to wait for the regular release.
Note on Origin Access Basic: If you have subscribed to the Basic service of Origin Access, you can play the 10-hour trial of Anthem. This is included in the subscription and does not need to be paid separately. If you later decide to buy the game, you can simply carry over your progress.
