In Fortnite with Season 4, there are the two new skins Carbide and Omega, which you can upgrade gradually. How do you unlock the skins and upgrade them? And what is the mysterious Blockbuster Challenge about?
What is currently going on? The 4th Season of Fortnite has brought many new features to the game. These include new challenges for the Battle Pass, a modified map, and special superhero skins that can be upgraded. This is meant to improve motivation and progression in Fortnite.
Increase your Season Level and make Carbide and Omega look nicer
This is what the new skins are about: In the new Battle Pass, there are two special new superhero skins: Carbide at Battle Pass level 1 and Omega at the final level 100 of the pass. Both skins look pretty cool already, but you can further enhance them.
New style for Carbide and Omega: As seen in the embedded images, you will receive additional outfit parts when you reach certain levels in the season (not in the Battle Pass!). For example, Carbide receives a chest plate starting from Season Level 10, leg armor at Level 20, and a helmet at Level 40.
The same applies to the final Battle Pass skin Omega, for which you need to achieve higher Season levels. You will only get the full set of accessories for Omega starting from Season Level 80.
New legendary bonus skin for the Blockbuster Challenge?
Season levels used to be quite irrelevant. In the last season, many players finished their challenges before the end, and the season levels were worthless once you completed the Battle Pass.
Leveling up in the season earned you stars in the Battle Pass. Every 10 stars equated to one level in the pass and thus a new reward. Particularly, players who meticulously completed all challenges each week hoped for special rewards.
Is there more to it? There were no extra rewards back then, but in Season 4, completionists will be rewarded. Those who complete the new “Blockbuster Challenge” will receive a secret reward: apparently another legendary skin. However, to get it, you need to complete seven of the ten possible weekly challenges over the course of Season 4. That means a total of seven challenges with seven individual tasks each.
Whatever you end up getting, it is likely to be a worthy accolade for hardcore Fortnite enthusiasts. But until we find out what it is, we will have to wait seven weeks. Only then will the first players be able to have completed all the weekly challenges of the season.
How long will it take to reach Season Level 80?
Level 80 is nice and all, but how long does it take to reach this level? The season levels require more experience points with each new level. According to a table on the internet, you need 403,300 experience points for Level 80.
How do I get all these experience points? On Reddit, a user went to the trouble of calculating the XP requirements:
- You get a total of 5,000 XP for completing a weekly challenge. That equates to 50,000 experience points over 10 weeks
- The complete Battle Pass gives another 5,000 XP
- The beginner challenge also gives another 5,000 points
- Every day there is a daily challenge worth 500 points. That makes a total of 34,500 XP over 69 days for the entire season
How many XP are there in total? In total, you can earn 94,500 experience points through challenges in Season 4.
How much more grinding do I have to do? This means you need to earn the remaining 308,800 XP through persistent grinding. That would be at least 4,500 XP per day that you need to grind for. Only then will the coveted fully equipped Omega be within reach!
