The anime-MMORPG Aura Kingdom was previously playable via its own client and on Steam. However, it is suddenly no longer available there, which confused some players. We have inquired with the publisher Gamigo.
Update November 29: We have received a statement from Gamigo. It states:
A bug was introduced in Aura Kingdom during a recent update, causing some issues with Steam. To avoid unpleasant surprises for players, we have decided to temporarily lock the title for new players on Steam until the problem is resolved.
Existing players are not affected, and we hope to have the title back available soon.
Original news: The Steam page for Aura Kingdom is no longer accessible. Those searching for it can only find the successor Aura Kingdom 2.
In the publisher Aeria Games’ client (which is now part of Gamigo), the MMORPG is still playable, and the website continues to publish regular news about the game. There is no mention of the now-missing Steam page.
Publishers may have taken it offline due to shop issues
The user theStroh on reddit quotes the code from SteamDB and says he can read from it that the publishers removed the game from Steam and not Steam itself is responsible:
It is no longer on Steam because the publisher decided to remove it – Added app_retired_publisher_request – 1 and Added app_retired_was_free – 1.
His comment receives several upvotes.
“At least we know that Steam did not delete the game for some reason,” AkreonDorplasy replies. Steam itself is therefore likely not responsible for the removal of Aura Kingdom, but Gamigo is. However, only speculation can be offered regarding the reasoning.
The moderators of the Discord server for Aura Kingdom have repeatedly posted over the past few months that there are issues with payment in the cash shop.
Already in June, the moderator Lottus wrote: “We know that payment with Steam credit and Razor Gold is currently not working. It has been reported, and our team is working on it.” Similar messages followed, with the last coming in late October from moderator Lali: “The Steam version for AP purchases is not currently working. We recommend you buy it directly through the website.”
Is Aura Kingdom returning to Steam? A few days ago, another moderator on the Discord wrote that they also did not know why Aura Kingdom was no longer on Steam. “The team is working to get it back on Steam,” he assures. Meanwhile, we know that this is true.
