At the beginning of May, there was the sad certainty that Jörg Hengstler, the German voice actor of Kogoro Mouri in Detective Conan, has passed away. The Japanese team has now searched for and found a replacement for the anime.
Who will be voicing Kogoro Mouri from now on? In a video on TikTok, Giuliana Jakobei, the German voice of Ran Mouri, introduces the new voice actor for Kogoro Mouri. From now on, the detective will be voiced by Dirk Bublies in all new episodes and films.
His most well-known roles, some of which come from the animated realm, include:
- Prince Ishitsukuri from The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2013)
- Alfred Pennyworth in Joker (2019)
- Daddy in Ninjago (2018)
- Quack the Crash Pilot in DuckTales (2017-2021)

In the video, Bublies emphasizes that he would be stepping into big shoes. Jörg Hengstler did a fantastic job, and he would rather be happy if he didn’t have to directly take over the role from him. He would put in a lot of effort and all his heart into the role to fulfill the job as wonderfully as Hengstler did, without directly imitating him.
Dirk Bublies will make his first appearance in the current movie Detective Conan – The 1-Million-Dollar Pentagram. The movie is currently showing in cinemas, so you can see for yourself how Bublies performs as Kogoro Mouri.

How does he come across? In the comments under Giuliana Jakobei’s video, Bublies is warmly welcomed into the Conan family. Fans view his approach as great and think that the new voice could fit well.
User Tano still believes that Bublies needs to copy a bit of the old voice of Kogoro Mouri to keep his charm and personality. User FC3SGermany has already been convinced of the new voice in the cinema and thinks that Bublies gets better with increasing playback time.
When could there be new episodes? The two voice actors hope that there could soon be new episodes, although the chances for that are slim. Currently, only the first 483 episodes are available in Germany (445 according to Japanese counting). In Japan, however, there are now 1,133 episodes.
Therefore, we can only hope that the remaining episodes will one day come to Germany. Detective Conan enjoyed great popularity during its run on RTL2.
