Destiny 2 has many exotics. Some of them are included in the meta, while others are ignored. However, one particular exotic was created to make the lives of champions more difficult, but it never worked as it should have.
Which weapon is it? The first season in Destiny 2 brought a hand cannon that sold impressively, and that was Eriana’s Vow. This weapon has the Solar element and is powered by special ammo. The weapon feels like a .44 Magnum and has a heavy recoil, but it could also deal damage.
Upon its release, champions also made their way into the universe of the loot shooter – including barrier champions. Eriana’s Vow was supposed to deal with their shields easily, but the weapon couldn’t hold its own. It took several shots to break the shield, while alternatives like the Arbalest only needed one.
With Patch 8.0.5.4, that has changed. Eriana’s Vow is back in its element and better than ever.
Bungie has finally fixed the weapon
What has been improved? Eriana’s Vow had a problem establishing itself in the meta when it came to breaking shields of champions, even though it was precisely designed for that purpose. The hand cannon simply couldn’t break shields with one shot, while an Arbalest could.
The Reddit user solelychloe demonstrated the weapon’s upgrade in his video:
solelychloe went into a Nightfall and looked for a barrier champion. He shot him with his machine gun until he activated his shield. Now the Guardian pulled out Eriana’s Vow and fired a shot at the shield. The result: The shield was immediately broken, and the champion was incapacitated – just as the weapon was supposed to function at release.
What do fans say about the buff? They are satisfied but also confused. They don’t understand on Reddit how it can be that legendary weapons can break a champion’s shield better and faster than an exotic weapon that was literally created for this job. The following comments can be heard:
- “As it always should have been. It should never be easier to break a barrier shield with a legendary weapon than with an exotic weapon that was literally made for breaking shields.” – oliferro
- “Finally! Time to take it out of the vault again.” – def_tom
- “It only took 40 years.” – DaviAlm45
- “It took long enough for them to do this. This should have always been a thing, especially since it is a special weapon. I am so glad that this thing is now viable.” – FamGaming17
What do you think of the fix? Do you think it’s good that Eriana’s Vow finally works as it should, or do you prefer using other weapons like the Arbalest or the Wishender?
