A developer has created a brilliant app for cleaning the house. It’s almost the perfect excuse to justify buying an expensive VR headset.
Most VR devices are not exactly cheap. For Meta’s Quest 3, you pay around 600 euros, while Apple’s VR system, the Apple Vision Pro, costs almost 4,000 euros. A developer has now introduced a brilliant app that allows you to visualize house cleaning.
Cleaning is easier with an app
What kind of app is it? As reported by the colleagues at Dexerto, a developer has created a fantastic app for cleaning tasks. To use it, you need either an Apple device or Meta’s Quest 3. Then, you must scan the play area with the device. That is, the area you want to clean.
The app automatically tracks where you have already vacuumed, and the light green overlay disappears from any spot that has already been cleaned. You can watch a short video showing how it works on reddit:
To check how far the vacuum has cleaned, the developer attached the Quest 3 controller to his vacuum cleaner. You can see this at the very beginning of his video.
What are the reactions? The reactions are mostly positive. One person explains that with the right gamification
, it would even get his son to clean the hallway every day. Another adds that it needs just such apps and ideas to make VR interesting for the mass market. He explains:
Honestly, this is one of the first things I have seen that I believe are necessary for VR to truly hit the mainstream. (…) This is hands-free and practical, I hope we see more of such stuff.
