In Wuthering Waves, there are monsters, exciting battles, and epic bosses. However, the most challenging thing for the player base seems to be reading.
What is Wuthering Waves actually? Wuthering Waves is an action RPG from Kuro Games with an open world and is playable on Windows and mobile. The game is also expected to be available on PlayStation, but no release date has been set yet. In the game, players can draw characters through a gacha system and then explore the world with them.
Why can’t players read? In the action RPG Wuthering Waves, the weapons and abilities of characters can be upgraded with a variety of materials to increase their level and combat power. There are five different materials that can be obtained from various instances. Each weapon type has a specific instance available.
- Sword: Metallic drop from the molten ruin.
- Rectifier: Helix from the misty forest.
- Broad sword: Waveworn from the eroded ruin.
- Arm armor: Cadence from moonlit groves.
- Pistols: Flawless phlogiston from the burning forest.
All characters of the same type, such as sword characters, require the same materials for upgrading their weapons and abilities. However, it seems many players have overlooked this, as a user on Reddit pointed it out to the player base. This prompted a thread of messages on this topic, where players made fun of themselves for not reading about it.
Wuthering Waves has many characters to offer:
Reading is hard
How could this be overlooked? Many players realized that there is one instance per weapon type. For example, several players randomly played three sword characters in their team, which meant they only had to do the same instance for the same materials and therefore didn’t further inform themselves, questioned the principle, or read something about it. Thus, players commented on Reddit:
- Velvet_Crowe laughs at himself (via Reddit): “As always, reading seems to be the toughest boss for gacha players.”
- InersDraco wonders (via Reddit): “Okay, I’m dumb. I noticed that the talents of the characters and their weapons use the same materials, but I didn’t connect the two points.”
- Mastur1934 has a realization (via Reddit): “Damn, that’s why I’ve been stuck in the misty forest domain for ages, because I built Encore, Zhezhi, Verina, and Yinlin.”
Wuthering Waves thus offers a similar principle to Genshin Impact. However, the combat system distinguishes the two games from each other. Wuthering Waves does not rely as heavily on an elemental system and features only three characters per team setup.
