5. Everything is impressively interconnected

How is the series structured? Fate/Zero feels like it’s made from one piece. The story is exciting from beginning to end, the characters are not only interesting but also interconnected. And everything that happens has consequences somewhere.
The series manages to tell many different characters and plots simultaneously without losing focus. Instead, they interlock like gears, and in the end, everything makes sense.
How is this exemplified with Saber? A good example of how strongly the characters are intertwined is Saber. She is clearly the heroine of the story – honorable, steadfast, and idealistic. But this exactly brings her into conflict with almost all other Servants.
Berserker fights strangely with extreme anger against her, and only later does it become clear why – he was once Lancelot, one of her most loyal knights from the Round Table. But in his eyes, she has failed as a queen.
Others also challenge her: Rider openly criticizes her leadership style and claims that a king must not only serve but also inspire and lead. Archer, on the other hand, considers her notion of rule naive and childish. And then there’s Caster, who confuses her with Jeanne d’Arc, whom he was once in love with – giving the whole thing a completely new, strange dynamic.
Fate/Zero has everything that makes a great anime
What is my conclusion? Fate/Zero has everything that makes a great anime for me: an impressive variety of characters and battles that are not just spectacular but also exciting and unpredictable.
I haven’t really talked about Kiritsugu, the main character, yet, even though his backstory is essential to the series. You learn how he got into this whole mess and what shapes him as a person. Since he is extremely strong and is highly respected, it is all the more painful when he falls into a dilemma. And that is another thing that Fate/Zero gets right: the characters are strong, no doubt – but they are not overpowered.
“Fate” is a huge franchise with complex lore and great characters – and Fate/Zero shows the storytelling potential inherent in it. A completely different world full of fascinating characters and epic story is also offered by One Piece. Here, the author even reveals who his favorite character is: The favorite character of the author of One Piece was almost a Straw Hat Pirate – and it is not Vivi
