What was stolen? The stolen goods comprised various Amazon deliveries. Among the packages were clothing, leather goods, perfumes, and other valuables.
In addition, there were many electronic devices. Among these, the French authorities found coffee machines, vacuum cleaners, laptops, and PC monitors.
However, the bulk of the loot consisted of around 100 PS5 gaming consoles. Their total value is said to be approximately 100,000 euros. A large sum, but nothing compared to the fine that Sony now has to pay in France.
What mistake led to the arrest? After more and more shipments had disappeared, the shipping giant became skeptical. The two perpetrators quickly came under suspicion. Both men were arrested by the French police on the company premises.
During their arrest, several packages containing PS5 consoles were found still in the driver’s cabin of the van. Additionally, they were using forged documents. During their first hearing, both confessed to the crime.
Where were the stolen packages found? The Amazon employee and an accomplice used an additional apartment to hide the countless packages. In his role as a package delivery driver, he was able to gradually collect the stolen deliveries there.
After their arrest, they initially provided a different address. However, investigators did not find anything there. Through their work, the authorities were finally able to locate the second apartment and discovered the stolen goods.
