The action RPG Where Winds Meet has already attracted 15 million players – and that’s just in China. For the global release, the role-playing game shows once again what makes it so special – namely the multitude of activities in the open world.
What kind of game is this? Where Winds Meet is a free action RPG from the Chinese developer Everstone Studio and NetEase Games. The setting of the game is China in the 10th century. Wuxia battles meet an interactive open world that keeps you engaged even away from the slaughter.
In China, Where Winds Meet already released in December 2024, almost a year ago. There, the game attracted 15 million people, while the release in the West is still ahead.
On November 14, 2025, you can also play the action RPG here. The developers are already teasing this with a new gameplay trailer. This shows once again what makes the game so special: the abundance of activities and the interactivity of the game world.

From Troublemaker to Dog Playing Mahjong
What does Where Winds Meet offer? In addition to a cinematically staged story campaign and classic MMO content like dungeons and world bosses, Where Winds Meet also offers numerous other activities – many of them in the form of classic mini-games.
Activities in the game world include street fights, a kind of dart game, and the Chinese card game Madiao. The trailer also shows that Where Winds Meet does not always take its activities too seriously:
- At one point in the trailer, we control a dog that sits down at a game table and plays Mahjong with other dogs.
- Then, our character annoys a goose with a huge bell. Shortly after, in the trailer, it gets its revenge by attacking our character.
Other things happen rather incidentally in the open world. For example, if there is a performance happening in town, you can really sit down and watch it.
In Where Winds Meet, you can also decide whether you want to be a respectable citizen or a troublemaker. You are free to set one field or another on fire or steal from people. However, you must live with the consequence that the guards will want to arrest you for that.
