The highlights of the week:
- What do the upheavals at Zenimax mean for The Elder Scrolls Online? In an exclusive gamescom interview with MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya, directors Rich Lambert and Nick Konkle discussed the future of the MMORPG and a new direction.
- By the way: The developers of The Elder Scrolls Online are currently working on enabling crossplay between PC and consoles. This was hinted at by Rich Lambert at gamescom and then confirmed by Community Manager ZOS_Kevin in the official forum of the MMORPG.
- At gamescom 2025, MeinMMO editor Jasmin Beverungen was able to talk to the chief developer of Final Fantasy XIV. The discussion involved the collaboration with Monster Hunter Wilds, the mobile spin-off, and the evolution of MMORPGs in general.
- Additionally, Yoshi-P revealed at gamescom how he would design an MMORPG if he were to start development in 2025.
- The developers of Throne and Liberty presented the new housing system in a detailed article on playthroneandliberty.com. The goal: Housing should offer more than just decoration but also functionality and benefits.
- Speaking of which: In the new episode of Tico Talks, there was a lot of information about the next major content update of Throne and Liberty, which is supposed to go live on September 18. Patch 7.31 for FFXIV comes on September 2, 2025

- Guild Wars 2 is not only one of the highest-rated MMORPGs on Steam but can also attract more players to the servers through Valve’s platform. Last weekend saw a new player record.

- On August 27, three retro open-PvP worlds for Tibia were launched: Escura (EU), Mystera (NA), and Penumbra (SA). You can find the details at tibia.com.
- Neverwinter Online received the Slaughterhouse Arena patch on August 27. This involves new content where you have to defeat waves of enemies. You can find the patch notes at playneverwinter.com.
- The developers of Lord of the Rings Online want to thank their community for their support. How? With a coupon code through which you can unlock countless quest packs for the MMORPG.
- In Eve Online, there were several large battles involving thousands of ships. Even the developers have commented on the events to acknowledge them with a few warm words.
- Until September 23, the Stone Cold Summer event is running in EverQuest, featuring new quests, missions, and rewards. You can find the details at everquest.com.

- From August 26 to September 22, the Homecoming event is taking place in DC Universe Online. You can find all the info at dcuniverseonline.com.
- On August 27, the servers of Dual Universe were shut down: SciFi MMO wanted to rival Star Citizen, announces end after only 3 years – Now players have to keep it alive.
- The developers of SWTOR have introduced the events for September as usual on swtor.com.

- The beta of the anime MMORPG Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is currently running. For the first time, players in the West can try out the new MMORPG in large numbers and already know after 3 days what they like and what they do not like.
- On August 26, 2025, the third phase of Alpha Two for Ashes of Creation officially started. MeinMMO summarizes all the important information about the next milestone for many MMORPG fans.
- The superhero MMORPG Ship of Heroes was supposed to be released on Steam on August 18, 2025. After an initial delay of one week, it was also not able to launch on August 25 as hoped. There apparently were uncertainties regarding the subscription that Valve wanted clarified.
- The development of Aion 2 continues to progress. The chief has now talked in an interview about the monetization of the theme-park MMORPG. He reveals new details.
- The Chinese company NetEase is apparently still in savings mode. Now, the next ambitious MMORPG project from the West is to receive less funding, namely Project Ghost.
- On their official Discord channel, the developers of Pax Dei extensively answer questions from the community about UI, guilds, building, markets, PvE content and much more.
- The developers of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen explain on X that they had to postpone the update planned for August 27 regarding Black Rose Keep to fix a critical bug. There is no replacement date yet.
- On September 15, the Steam launch of the Free2Play MMORPG Eterspire is coming up. To prepare, the developers released Update 58.0 this week, featuring 2 new areas, quests, and more.
- With Vampir, a new MMORPG for PC and mobile has launched in South Korea; you can find the official website at vampir.netmarble.com. It is unclear if there will be a global launch in the future.
- Also from South Korea comes the “brutal dark-fantasy MMORPG” Raven II, which is definitely set to receive a global PC and mobile release, including on epicgames.com. Pre-registrations have started on the official website raven2w.netmarble.com. A trailer showcasing the classes can be found below:
