After the manga of Attack on Titan was completed in 2021, the grand finale followed in anime format in 2023. However, about a year after the series ended, a movie is soon to be released in theaters, allowing fans to experience the end of the story together once again.
What kind of movie is this? Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack summarizes the grand finale of the anime. The film is an edit of the last two episodes of the anime series. These are two specials that each lasted about an hour.
- The first special was called Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters: Special 1 and ran for 61 minutes. The special has achieved an above-average rating of 9.4/10 on IMDb.
- The second special concluded the anime with a runtime of 85 minutes. Special 2 received an equally outstanding rating of 8.8/10.
The audience thus experience once again the great rumble and the final battle among all participants. However, the film seems to be an exact compilation of the two specials since it has a total runtime of 145 minutes, which is the sum of both specials.

New movie of Attack on Titan is just a compilation
Is the movie worth watching? As the movie is just a compilation of the last two episodes, it is not worth watching if you expect new material from Attack on Titan. Rather, the movie might be interesting for you if you want to experience the finale on the big screen together with other viewers.
As director Yuichiro Hayashi reveals, the two specials were actually designed to be shown as a movie. He is accordingly pleased that his dream is finally coming true and the specials are being shown as a movie in theaters.
Where can I see the movie? So far, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack has only been announced for Japan. The theatrical release is on November 8, 2024. A release for the West has not yet been announced, but it may still follow.
In the meantime, the creator of Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama, is working on another manga.
