Recently, there has been a rumor that an “Alliance” in Anthem corresponds to a clan feature. However, this is not true: Alliances are something different. While there will be clans, what they will be called and how they will look is not yet clear.
What are Alliances really? This will be a system in Anthem that rewards you with additional coins (Coin). The amount of coins you earn depends on how often you play Anthem each week. It is designed for up to 6 players.
The earned currency can be used, for example, to provide Javelins with skins. You can edit your Javelins in various ways.
How did the rumor start? In a recently released gameplay video of Anthem, the Fort Tarsis is highlighted. This is the single-player hub where you experience your personal story in Anthem.
In this video, a picture excerpt appeared showing Alliances. From this image, some fans probably concluded that it would be a guild system. This rumor has taken on a life of its own and has spread among fans.

There will be guilds in Anthem
BioWare has already confirmed that there is a clan system in Anthem. However, the details are under NDA and cannot be published yet. More information about the guilds is expected soon. This is stated in a Discord post by a BioWare employee.
Why a clan system is important for Anthem: Anthem will be a third-person shooter with MMO elements. Thus, it is similar to Destiny 2, Warframe, or The Division 2. These games are designed for a certain group dynamic and playing together online.
Guilds help to organize and motivate the friendships and groups that develop. They make it easier to always have enough players and work towards common goals. It creates a sense of community, which can be very important for long-term motivation.
To the VIP demo testers: Keep in mind that you can invite three friends to the VIP demo of Anthem.
