In a week, we expect the official announcement of Borderlands 3. However, some information has already leaked before that. We will compile these leaked details and speculations for you.
When will the official presentation be? So far, Borderlands 3 has not even been officially announced, even though there have been discussions about the game for years. The debate flares up again and again, partly because Gearbox head Randy Pitchford keeps making hints.
However, now there is strong anticipation for the official announcement on March 28.
Then Gearbox will hold a big event during Pax East and will likely showcase what the studio has planned for 2019 and beyond.
It is considered certain that Borderlands 3 will be shown here for the first time. We will show you the teaser from Gearbox in the title image of this article.
When is the reveal exactly? The reveal of Borderlands 3 will take place on March 28 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM German time.

How far along is Borderlands 3? According to leaked and credible information from the YouTube channel Rooster Teeth from December, the game was already quite advanced and at the end of the alpha phase back then.
Also speaking for the advanced state of development is the fact that Borderlands 3 was initially planned for a release before April 2019, but was then postponed.
As early as 2017, there were significant indications that Gearbox was deep in development and conducting motion capture for the game.
One can assume that Borderlands 3 is relatively far along and should quickly appear after an announcement. Gearbox seems to focus on a short time between announcement and release, similar to Bethesda.
When could the release date of Borderlands 3 be? There is a lot of support for summer 2019. This would avoid “big shooter competition,” which will start a few months later.
This would be around June/July 2019.
Another option would be spring 2020 – in the time window when Anthem and The Division 2 were released in 2019: that would be February/March 2020.

What kind of game will Borderlands 3 be? So far, it sounds like Borderlands 3 will again be oriented towards Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2: It will be a cooperative shooter for up to 4 players that can also be played solo.
This seems to have established itself as a formula, as Randy Pitchford mentioned on Twitter.
Exactly 4 characters have been leaked in advance – also supporting the idea.
Whether Borderlands 3 will be “bigger” and go more in the direction of a shared-world shooter, we do not know.
There are no real indications for this, although the decision could be influenced by the industry’s shift towards Games-as-a-service.
The question is whether the core community of Borderlands would like such “shared-world” ideas. Generally, probably not.

These could be the 4 classes: A leak in December showcased the 4 classes of the game. It is noticeable that almost every class relies on a kind of “pet”, a minion that they can command. This would likely be important for solo play.
- The Beastmaster is a kind of hunter who can summon up to three animals
- The Soldier can summon a Titan that can also deploy a turret
- The Siren is a melee fighter
- The Assassin is said to be inspired by Zero and can throw a decoy
What we know so far: There are also said to be several Vaults in Borderlands 3. Players can showcase their weapons in a kind of showroom and show them to other players.
This information also comes from the December leak.

These have been the speculations and leaks so far that we consider credible on MeinMMO.
We will learn more in a week when the game is finally presented.
