How to enhance weapon exotics: Since the Warmind expansion for Destiny 2, many exotic weapons can be molded into a masterpiece. A masterpiece version represents an upgrade of the respective weapon, improving certain stats of the firearm or even granting the weapon additional perks.
The key to this are the appropriate masterpiece catalysts that must be found or specifically played and leveled up to ultimately unlock the coveted masterpiece version of the respective weapon.
All masterpiece catalysts in 2023 – How to find them, what they can do
Currently, not all 108 exotic weapons in Destiny 2 can be upgraded to a masterpiece.
However, we have summarized all the available and known catalysts along with their sources below for you, sorted alphabetically for ease of reference. Note that some of them drop randomly, while others are tied to quests or events. Additionally, some can now be obtained from other sources.

A
Agers Zepter (Fusil)
- Catalyst drops: Randomly at the end of playlist activities, such as Strikes, Gambit, and Crucible.
- Upgrade requirement: 1000 kills.
- Upgrade effect allowed you to activate an alternate fire mode when your Super is charged. This inflicts increased damage but drains your Super energy. The fire mode ends once your weapon is stowed or your Super is used up.
Arbalest (Linear Fusion Rifle)
- Catalyst drops: From a quest that you receive from Shaw Han in the Cosmodrome.
- Upgrade requirement: 500 kills
- Upgrade effect: +20 handling, “Genesis” ensures that breaking a fighter’s shield with this weapon refills the magazine from reserves. Energy weapons regenerate ammo on hits if the damage type matches the fighter’s shield.
Arbeitstier (Assault Rifle)
- Catalyst drops: Randomly from playlists, such as Strikes, Gambit, and Crucible.
- Upgrade requirement: 250 multi-kills.
- Upgrade effect: “Serious Business” perk: Once the weapon fully revs up, the flinch (the wobble when hit by enemies) is significantly reduced.

Borealis (Sniper Rifle)
- Catalyst drops: Randomly through kills in PvE.
- Upgrade requirement: 150 void, solar, and arc kills each.
- Upgrade effect: Reload speed +20.
Boshafte Berührung (Scout Rifle)

- Catalyst drops: In the raid “Kingsfall”, when you and your team play a bit of “Schar Basketball” in a secret room, if everyone succeeds and you are lucky.
- Upgrade requirement: 700 kills.

- Upgrade requirement: 700 kills.

- Upgrade requirement: Kill 500 enemies with “Donnerlord.”
- Upgrade effect: “Recoil” causes that a lightning strike with this weapon partially reloads the magazine from reserves.
