Season 5 was one of the biggest series highlights of 2025. However, the final season has many problems: There are some plot holes and some characters disappear or are suddenly gone and not mentioned anymore. Also, the final battle with Vecna was told too quickly and didn’t fit the mood that the monsters had previously created. The many storylines harm the season more than they help it.
However, the season also has many beautiful moments, and the Duffer brothers give characters like Will, Mike, or Eleven quite satisfying conclusions. The atmosphere both inside and outside of the Upside Down works, and despite the many criticisms, the last 30 minutes of the season contain the most beautiful moments of the series.
One can only hope that the characters are now left in peace and that spin-offs focus on other aspects.
