12. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Release: 2008
The animated series of the same name is really good and has many great story arcs. Unfortunately, the film feels like an unnecessarily long episode of the series. The film’s story seems rather insignificant. Nonetheless, fans of the animated series can definitely enjoy the film.
If you like this, you should definitely check out the animated series, as there are cool Star Wars stories hidden there that you won’t find in the big films.
11. Ewoks – Battle for Endor
Release: 1985
Battle for Endor is the direct sequel to Caravan of Courage, but this time with more action. You can expect a similar experience, but there are new creatures with some interesting designs. I also liked the set design better here.
The villains, however, are pretty silly and remind me of Power Rangers enemies. For many, this may be a critical point, but it gave me a nostalgic feeling.
10. Star Wars: Episode 8: The Last Jedi
Release: 2017
The probably most controversial film of the entire series. The Last Jedi plays with the myth of power and turns Luke into a bitter old man. Some scenes in the film are rather boring, yet it offers good visuals and interesting battles.
The Last Jedi suffers mainly from the fact that the films before and after it do not fit into its story. Often, it feels like an entirely different story is being told. By the time of Episode 9, all concepts from Episode 8 were discarded.
9. Star Wars: Episode 7: The Force Awakens
Release: 2015
At its core, The Force Awakens is very close to the first Star Wars film. Somehow, everything feels very familiar. This significantly reduces the film’s suspense and the characteristics that make it memorable.
However, the film also has positive aspects in the form of Poe and Finn. The dynamics between the two work really well, and it’s a shame that this was not built upon in future films.
