Rank 8: The Dark Knight Rises
The conclusion of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy was highly anticipated but then disappointed on a high level. It is by no means a bad film, nor a bad Batman film. But it has the misfortune of being the successor to The Dark Knight.
Although The Dark Knight Rises makes some efforts to offer spectacular moments – just the opening with Bane in the plane is impressive. However, on a story level, there are some weaknesses that stand out negatively, especially in comparison to the other two films in the trilogy.
Rank 7: The LEGO Batman Movie
The LEGO Movie from 2014 was already a great surprise. Batman appeared in it, who then received his own film with the LEGO Batman Movie. As is often the case, the Joker is the antagonist. But many other well-known characters like Robin, Batgirl, Alfred, or Two-Face also get their LEGO versions.
The film entertains well and is a successful parody. Alongside the cute look that comes with LEGO, it can also convince on an emotional level.
Rank 6: Batman Begins
The difference between Batman Begins, the first part of the Nolan trilogy, and its successors is enormous. Batman Begins is even more of a comic film, darker, and shows a Gotham City that seems to always be raining.
The film tells once again how Bruce Wayne became Batman. It positions itself between the realism of The Dark Knight and the wild comic images of earlier Batman films. All in all, a successful film that features Scarecrow as one of the coolest villains.
