8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1
Release: 2010
The Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is the beginning of the grand finale of the first film series and unfortunately a bit too long. Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s journey and flight feel disappointingly like doing sidequests, and one is constantly wondering when it will finally kick off.
Also, the discord within the group seems somewhat inappropriate given the situation. However, the film’s finale at least works and offers an emotional moment.
7. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The Order of the Phoenix picks up directly from the events of the fourth film, and Harry has to deal with the Ministry. No one believes that Voldemort is back. This is also the best aspect of the film. This ignorance, stemming from fear, causes Voldemort to gain significant presence.
Umbridge as the evil teacher works, and the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort is probably the best fight in the entire series. Unfortunately, the training
is quite tedious, and the love story fails to ignite.
6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Release: 2009
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is driven by the story of the Half-Blood Prince. The ongoing atmosphere of imminent danger permeates the film, and Malfoy finally has an important role.
The most tragic moment at the end of the film also heralds the final phase. The protector of all students is gone and now one has to defend against the villain. This works really well, even if the magic of Hogwarts, which one marvels at throughout the films, disappears.
5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2
Release: 2011
The grand finale of the Harry Potter films is a grand spectacle as well. There are exciting action sequences, and many side characters, whom one doesn’t even think about, get well-deserved chances to show what they can do. This makes it really fun.
The stories of many characters are satisfactorily concluded here. If one primarily focuses on this aspect of the films, it could be ranked much higher. Nevertheless, The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is a good ending to a good series.
