The upcoming Merlyn update will bring some major changes to the sandbox MMORPG Albion Online.
The Steam launch of the MMORPG has managed to mobilize some new players, but an old MMO problem has fans of the online game worried: The cities are slowly becoming deserted.

Wars in Cities
Player decline in the cities. The further players advance in Albion Online, the less reason they have to linger in the cities on the Royal continent. Currently, only beginners can find important resources around them. This issue leads to many cities slowly becoming deserted and experienced players only staying in the Outlands.
The developers have a plan! With the upcoming Merlyn-update, the team aims to put an end to this development. Some changes will be made to the game:
- Cities provide various bonuses – such as for crafting or upgrading items
- Around the cities, players will find many more and more valuable resources that will still be useful at higher levels
- The faction war will be reworked
- Each city will offer a very special resource
The cities will be incorporated into the faction war. To make the cities interesting for PvP battles, the leaders will enlist your help. They hire you as mercenaries to defend the cities. In particular, the resources and bonuses that the cities provide after the update should make them more interesting for the PvP battles of the faction war.
Outpost Capturing and Trade Caravans. These are two new activities. In an outpost capturing you must try to capture outposts for your faction by killing the faction’s champion. In the trade caravans, you smuggle valuable goods to transport hubs to exchange them there. However, during the journey, you will be attacked by members of other factions.
A release date for the Merlyn update of the MMORPG Albion Online will be announced later.
