A musician wanted to find his package and instead irritated the chatbot that was supposed to handle customer service. But this now has consequences for the chatbot. MeinMMO reports what happened.

The musician Ashley Beauchamp recently contacted the chatbot of a package delivery service to track down a missing package. This was reported by the online magazine Digitaltrends.
What did the musician do? After the chatbot was not very helpful in helping him locate his package, he decided to play a prank on the chatbot: He asked the AI to write a poem criticizing the company. And the AI did exactly as the artist instructed.
What happened next? Eventually, the musician shared his frustration in a social media post that has now been viewed almost two million times.
The package deliverer […] has replaced its customer service chat with an AI robot. It is completely useless when it comes to answering questions, and when asked, it happily wrote a poem about how terrible they are as a company. It even yelled at me.
How did the company react? The package provider explained that there was an error during a system update. The issue mentioned by the musician should not occur again in the future.
The company stated that an error occurred in its AI chatbot following a recent system update, and added that they are working to prevent this from happening again.
There is ongoing criticism when companies replace their employees with AI
However, there is a serious core behind the musician’s story. It is not uncommon for corporations to lay off their employees only to replace them with a chatbot or other AI systems. Just recently, a team complained that they were laid off for an AI service.
Therefore, it is not surprising that many people view such actions with fear and concern, fearing that they might be the next to be unemployed on the street.
