We haven’t heard much about Asia MMORPG Age of Wushu 2 for a long time – until now. But what kind of game is it?
What is Age of Wushu 2? The MMORPG from Snail Games has little in common with its predecessor apart from the name and the scenario. Age of Wushu (2012) is a classic martial arts MMORPG.
In Age of Wushu 2, you must survive in an open sandbox world, which is why the new game leans more towards the survival genre.
However, survival here does not mean that you need to search for food or craft equipment. Survival means successfully finding your way.
Age of Wushu 2 differs from its predecessor
How does the predecessor play out? Age of Wushu, also known as Age of Wulin in this region, immerses you in ancient China. There, you join one of several martial arts schools, learn martial arts skills, and explore the vast world.
Along the way, you must complete quests and fight against members of rival schools.
What is the difference to part 2? You enjoy much more freedom than in the predecessor. Martial fights are still at the center. However, you are not locked into a predefined path. You must find your own way while trying to balance body and mind.
It is important to build relationships with NPCs. Whether you extort them for protection money or help them with problems. Your clothing plays a role in how NPCs react to you. Social interaction with other players is also very important.
You can build your own houses and even establish your own martial arts school that you manage.
How do the fights work? You still learn your skills in a martial arts school where you can work your way up to mastery. Physics plays a big role in the fights. Additionally, the elements are important. These include water, fire, earth, wood, and gold. You specialize in one of the elements.
If your element is water, then you train by rivers and lakes, which improves your skills.
Combos are also crucial. Thus, the fights remind a bit of beat ’em ups like Street Fighter. You need to time your attacks and act tactically.
Ranged combat is also important. Some weapons operate similarly to a shooter.
So Age of Wushu 2 plays quite differently than its predecessor.

Which engine is being used? The Unreal Engine 4 is being used, which should ensure fantastic visuals.
What about the release? A release date has not yet been announced. It has also been quiet for a long time about the MMORPG.
However, a button has recently appeared on the official Chinese website. Clicking it allows you to register for a test phase.
This likely means that Age of Wushu 2 is making great strides towards release. However, we’ll have to wait a bit longer in this region.
