Actually, the new series adaptation of Critical Role’s campaign “The Mighty Nein” was supposed to be released in about a week. But fans were surprised with the first episode before the official release, and it’s completely free and without a subscription on YouTube.
What is officially available now? The first episode of Critical Role’s “The Mighty Nein” has already been released before the official start on November 19, 2025. But not by a cheeky leaker – rather completely officially from the YouTube account of Prime Video.
You can now watch the first episode of the new adventurer group completely free and without a paid Prime subscription on YouTube, either with the original voices of the group in English, or dubbed in German.
But Attention: It will only be available to you until Sunday, November 16, 2025! So if you want to see the episode in advance, you should take advantage of the weekend!

What can already be seen from the first episode? What fans will first notice, especially those familiar with Critical Role’s first Amazon series “The Legend of Vox Machina”: The duration of the first episode of The Mighty Nein is almost twice as long as that of the first animated series, lasting a full 45 minutes.
The reason for the new episode length of the new series has already been explained by the group, stating that they learned from their previous mistakes with Vox Machina and therefore refined the pacing of the new project. They want to take their time with longer episodes to better develop the world and characters for which Critical Role is so popular.

What will be shown in the first episode? We don’t want to give too much away – as the author of this article doesn’t want to be too spoiled either. Nevertheless, we present you as spoiler-free as possible what you can look forward to.
Travis Willingham explained in an interview with Polygon that the series starts with a kind of “Session Zero” where the backgrounds are clarified and the expectations of all participants are discussed in real Dungeons & Dragons. And upon first glance at episode 1, this statement seems to be true. At least for a handful of selected characters.
The series begins in a time before the actual campaign started, as seen back in the livestream. When it began, Beau, Fjord, and Jester were already adventuring together, as well as Caleb and Nott. The first episode of the animated series shows some events that led to the occurrences of the first streamed episode in the campaign.
If you want to watch the episode before it gets taken down, you should plan a three-quarters of an hour of your time this weekend.
If you want to see The Mighty Nein at the official start, you’ll have to wait a little longer, but even 5 days shouldn’t be a major challenge after all this waiting.
