The promo for Monster Hunter Wilds is already in full swing and a new trailer was also presented at the gamescom, showing more of the world and two new monsters. For MeinMMO editor Nikolas Hernes, that’s enough to ensure he is perfectly equipped for 2025.
What can you see in the new trailer? At the Opening Night Live of gamescom 2024, a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds was naturally shown. This time, there is not only an overview of the 14 weapon types, but also two new monsters again.
We also see a glimpse of the possible hub, which is reminiscent of a popular part of the series on the 3DS. As a big fan of the series, I know after the trailer that I don’t need anything else for 2025 – not even GTA 6.
New area and two new monsters
At the beginning of the trailer, a new spider monster with a rose on its back is shown. The monster can emit spores and spins with its own silk to spread the spores. In the trailer, the monster is fought in an area called Scarlet Forest.
After further combat scenes with the new dog monster from previous trailers, you can see the possible hub area. The area is reminiscent of the hub from Monster Hunter 4 and is a desert area with tents. Here you see lively spots and a building that looks like the kitchen.
You also get to know an Apex Predator
that can shoot lightning and uses the horns on its head, which resemble the Gore Magala in design.
In the trailer, you also see how your Palicos set up a camp in the middle of the desert. This again shows that the game takes a more open approach than before, and you will likely be moving in an open world. This was also indicated by reports from journalists who were able to play it.
In the end, there is the typical food porn when you replenish yourself with dishes for the next quest.
I don’t need to see anything else to know that Monster Hunter Wilds will be my game of the year 2025. Although I started late, with Monster Hunter World, I have caught up a lot since then. The last trailer completely convinced me.
Monster Hunter Wilds promises to mix old strengths with innovations, preferably an open world. I love it. The fantasy of a hunter in an open world and the spectacular fight against large monsters is exactly to my taste.
In Monster Hunter Rise, you had less awe for the monsters due to the presentation, but the weather and the new designs, which mix fantastic elements with real creatures, leave me amazed with each new trailer.
