Just a few days after Larian Studios announced their latest game at the Game Awards, a shitstorm arose due to the use of AI. On January 9, 2026, fans will now have a chance to talk about the game’s development in a Q&A.
What kind of Q&A is this? As announced by Larian Studios in an X post, there will be an AMA today, January 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM CEST on the r/Games subreddit. Already on December 18, 2025, it was announced on Discord that they wanted to host such a Q&A (via Reddit).
The announcement came a week after the first trailer for Larian’s new game Divinity, which was announced at the Game Awards 2025. Shortly thereafter, a shitstorm ensued, after Larian CEO Swen Vincke spoke in an interview about the use of AI during the development process.
With Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian celebrated major successes in 2023:
What will this Q&A be like? In the Discord post, they explained that they want to enable fans to ask questions about the development of Divinity regarding various areas. In the post on X, they emphasize again that questions about the processes can be asked.
In such an AMA on Reddit, any user can ask something, and one or more employees from Larian can then answer these questions live in the thread. So if you have burning questions, you have the chance to get them out today starting at 2 PM CEST.
Aside from the AI controversy, such an AMA on Reddit offers the chance to look behind the scenes of development, especially for a game that doesn’t have a release date yet. Leya Jankowski, editor-in-chief of MeinMMO, was also able to talk to Larian Studios in an interview about their new game: Larian CEO Swen Vincke in the interview: “I hate the squirrel” – and about the great freedom for Divinity after Baldur’s Gate 3
