In League of Legends there are more than 1,000 skins for a total of 171 champions. One of them had to wait a long time for his new digital outfit, but players are somewhat disappointed.
Which champion is it about? The Crystal Scorpion, Skarner, is the least popular champion of League of Legends. Even after his major rework in 2024, he couldn’t increase his popularity. According to statistics from the site op.gg, Skarner is in last place with a pick rate of only 0.7%.
In the last 10 years, Skarner has only received two new looks and is thus an envious observer of the champions with the most skins in LoL. Now the scorpion finally gets a new skin for his collection.
When did Skarner last receive a skin? According to a LoL Wiki, the last skin for Skarner was released on November 24, 2020. That would be a total of 1,778 days or almost 5 years if we count until October 7, 2025, when the skin was presented by the YouTube channel SkinSpotlights. The new “Mecha Kingdoms Skarner” is supposed to be part of the next Battlepass of League of Legends.
In 2025, Riot started awarding skins as rewards for the Battlepass. Some of these skins have been received so poorly by players that Riot had to rework them later.
Players are disappointed with the new Skarner skin
What do players say about the new optional look of the champion? Under the introduction video on YouTube, many LoL players cannot believe that Skarner is getting a new skin. The user immortalspear, for example, never thought he would see this day.
Another user named SkarnerGA, who is obviously a Skarner fan, writes that players have waited five years and then get such “rubbish”. Another Skarner main (manuelghezzodebadin9898 on YouTube) commented under the video that while he is happy to see a new skin, it is quite disappointing.
Are there also positive opinions about the new skin? Yes, some players find the new animations and ability effects successful. The YouTube user PsychoDiesel48 believes that the new sounds of the Mecha Kingdoms skin would justify the price alone.
At least the new skin is not hidden behind a huge price tag like the 450€ skin from Faker or his “Hall of Legends” successor Uzi. He has also received an expensive skin, but not for his main champion: A legendary pro is honored for his achievements in LoL, receives a 430€ skin, but not for his main.
