The players of Helldivers 2 have actually sworn to initially confront the new players from Xbox with harsh reality and show them how the game really is. However, as the first reports indicate, the steel warriors actually have a warm heart.
What was the plan? Originally, the veterans of Helldivers 2 wanted to show their new recruits from Xbox how the galactic war really is. The recruits were to lie in the dirt and fundamentally understand what Helldivers 2 is truly about.
However, the first experiences of the new Xbox Divers show that behind the thick armors, there are warm hearts of the soldiers.
Here you can see how the new Helldivers are welcomed:
Veterans help the recruits
How did it go in reality? A new report shows that the veterans do not just want to let the new recruits do it, but want to help them stand on their own feet.
Thus, Reddit user DrifterzProdigy reports on his first steps as a recruit. After the tutorial, he set off for the first mission. His only equipment was a machine gun and a SOS beacon. Both support deliveries were requested by the player.
The SOS beacon acts in Helldivers 2 as an invitation for other players to join the mission. Thus, along with the machine gun, 2 high-level players landed in the recruit’s round. Instead of treating him poorly, they actually provided him with all kinds of weapons, gadgets, and even called him a mech suit. Additionally, they were said to have written: “Welcome, brother, give this a try.”
Instead of leaving him after the round, he tells that the veterans took 3 hours to explain the entire game to him and help wherever necessary. The user describes the experience as follows:
Given how toxic online gaming can be today, this release was like a breath of fresh air, and the interaction with the community was absolutely wonderful. I knew I was in a good community when I accidentally pressed a button on another player’s backpack and he just hugged me and typed “Hold me tight, brother” while we shone in radiant liberating luminescence.

What do the other players think? Both other veterans and recruits have had similar experiences. On Reddit, they report about it and also explain why everyone is in such a positive mood:
- URZthane: “Welcome to the community! You are no longer a recruit, but a Helldiver, just like all of us!”
- Worldly-Inevitable82: “You may have waited long to play this game with us, but we have also waited a long time to play with you.”
- FlyRobot: “I had great interactions with newbies and veterans yesterday. Playing against a common enemy is much more fun than against each other!”
- sixstringronin: “I think the community is formed because it’s a cooperative PvE game. There’s no competition, it’s just about your Helldiver comrades surviving. I really wished this had also been established in Halo.”
The mood in Helldivers 2 is currently excellent, which, besides the new recruits from Xbox, is also due to a big event that is set to come to the game soon. Soon, both veterans and recruits will go to war against the Terminites and even on their home worlds: Helldivers 2 announces big expansion, letting you attack the home worlds of the bugs and crawl into dark tunnels
