Actor Tom Hollander (Pride and Prejudice, Pirates of the Caribbean 2) recounted during a late-night show how he is repeatedly mistaken for Marvel star Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and even once accidentally received a paycheck for Avengers – even though he wasn’t in it.
During the Late Night Show with Seth Meyers on January 23, 2024, British actor Tom Hollander was asked about the famous Marvel actor with the similar name, Tom Holland.
The host Seth Meyers asked if people ever made the mistake of confusing the two. To that, Hollander replied with a: Yes.
Hollander humorously explained that it had been very difficult. “I was there first… But he is enormously famous.”
Of course, he wouldn’t be confused with the Marvel star based on looks, but in every other context, his name is constantly mixed up with Tom Holland.
Several times the actor had to emphasize in his professional setting that he is not Tom Holland, but Tom Hollander. “Or I will be introduced to someone’s very, very excited, then confused, then disappointed children,”, said Hollander.

Even his agency had confused the two actors, who were both represented by the same management for a brief period.
So, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor was sitting in the theater to watch a play in which one of his friends was acting when he got a message from his management:
I was sitting smugly in the audience after just having done a BBC show for $30,000 […] intermission came and I checked my emails and got one from the agency saying: ‘Payment receipt for the first box-office bonus for ‘The Avengers’.

Hollander’s first thought was then: “I don’t think I’m in ‘The Avengers’.” Nevertheless, he opened the email and saw that his acting colleague received a seven-figure sum.
Hollander emphasized that this was not the Marvel star’s salary, but just his first box-office bonus. Even this payment was more money than the actor had ever seen, and the smugness about his own fee of $30,000 was gone in an instant.
Tom Holland was said to be at a wedding in Avengers: Endgame – It was actually a funeral
