Actor of Deadpool had a condition to return for Marvel: An old colleague

Deadpool has seemed like Ryan Reynolds’ passion project since the first film. After all, he brought in fan-favorite Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, for the third installment. But Reynolds had one condition for Deadpool 3, and that was his desired director.

Which director are we talking about? In an interview with Deadline, Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, revealed that Ryan Reynolds would only make the latest film if he could get Levy as the director.

On the set of The Adam Project, a joint film of the two, Reynolds reportedly asked if Levy wanted to direct Deadpool 3 because he would only make the film with Levy as the director.

I remember how he said: I know, I know, you will say no and I just said, I will not say no, I will definitely say yes. And that was before I knew we were getting the biggest gift for a Deadpool movie, Hugh Jackman.

Reynolds and Levy are acquaintances

Where does Shawn Levy come from? As he also mentioned in the interview, Reynolds and Levy already know each other from previous films. There was the Netflix sci-fi film The Adam Project, but also the video game film Free Guy, which was well received by many fans and critics. Before, Levy made many comedies. The most famous among them is probably the Night at the Museum series.

But the director has also worked with Hugh Jackman before. In the film Real Steel, Jackman played the lead role.

In the interview, Levy adds that Jackman already warned him in 2011 during the shooting of Real Steel about Reynolds. He told him that if he ever directed a film with Reynolds, it would never end, because once you’ve worked with him, you never want to stop.
