After months of court hearings, the Activision Blizzard acquisition by Microsoft is now finalized. When thinking of Microsoft today, the Game Pass is one of the central elements. Activision commented on their lineup and the subscription service now on Twitter.
When is the deal between Microsoft and Activision finalized?
- On July 11, a court ruled in favor of Microsoft and approved the purchase of Activision
- The deal is expected to be finalized on October 13
- Thus, Microsoft will own many other major brands alongside Call of Duty and Diablo
It is precisely about these brands and games that many players think when they consider Microsoft’s Game Pass and whether Activision games will also be included. Activision itself recently commented on the Game Pass and the future of it on Twitter.
Even without Activision, you can play great games on the Game Pass. This also includes Starfield from Bethesda:
Activision wants games in the Game Pass, but two major titles are missing
On Twitter posted Activision on October 9 regarding the Game Pass:
According to the tweet, Activision will start releasing their titles in the Game Pass next year. However, it is not mentioned whether these will be old or new titles. A disappointment for many will be that neither Diablo 4 nor the new Modern Warfare 3 are planned for a release in this year’s subscription service. A Game Pass release of both titles next year, however, is not impossible.
Moreover, outside of that, Activision Blizzard has several game series to offer. These include Crash Bandicoot, Starcraft, and World of Warcraft. Older entries from the Diablo and Call of Duty
series could also be added.
When we can expect games or information about them is not known. However, when acquiring Bethesda, Microsoft also announced many of their titles for the Game Pass beforehand. The lineup of Activision Blizzard definitely offers great potential for the subscription service.
